How Does Morpheus8 Work?

Morpheus8 works with microneedling and radiofrequency technology to increase collagen production in the dermis. Collagen and elastin production is responsible for skin structure, and tightness. This is the reason why a higher level of collagen in the skin helps reduce fine lines, wrinkles, and acne scars. It results in firmer and younger-looking skin.

Radiofrequency energy also amplifies the benefits of Morpheus8. This device can eliminate fat, lift and tighten loose skin, and break up scar tissue to improve the appearance of stretch marks.

Am I a Good Candidate for Morpheus8?

Healthy individuals with even skin tones and mild to moderate signs of aging are the best candidates for a Morpheus8 treatment. This treatment treats fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin. The Morpheus8 device works for all skin types and can also treat acne, enlarged pores, acne scars, stretch marks, and hyperpigmentation.

Morpheus8 may be unsafe for people with a history of keloid scars, eczema, psoriasis, or other chronic skin conditions. Diabetes patients and people with raised moles or warts should also consider different options for treating skin aging.

Your Morpheus8 Consultation

Once you are eligible for the treatment, you will be asked about your appearance goals to help customize your treatment plan. This will also help you set realistic expectations for optimal results since a Morpheus8 treatment is minimally invasive and not permanent.

Before coming in for your Morpheus treatment, avoid direct sun exposure and spray tans for 2 weeks. Come in with nothing on your face, including SPF and skin serums.

Your Morpheus8 Session

When you arrive for your Morpheus8 session, we will go over your goals again and what to expect for the duration of your treatment. Numbing cream will be placed on the desired areas 45 minutes before cleaning your face and starting the treatment. Along with topical numbing cream, you will also be given Pro-Nox (laughing gas) to help you relax and make the treatment as comfortable as possible.

As the Morpheus8 handpiece is stamped onto your face and neck skin, you may feel heat and a “rubber-band-like” snap throughout the treatment. After your Morpheus8 treatment, bacitracin will be applied throughout the treatment areas.

After the treatment, you may leave very red, and your skin can feel hot, but don’t worry, it will cool down after a few hours. Over the next week to 3 weeks, your skin will feel rough and you may have, coffee ground marks on your skin—those will naturally go away. Platelet-rich fibrin, or PRF, can be used topically to speed up the healing process.

Post-care includes excluding retinol and vitamin C from your skincare routine for 72 hours. A good rule of thumb is this: If it’s irritating, don’t use it. No makeup for 24 hours. Apply bacitracin daily for 48 hours after the treatment, and make sure you are wearing SPF because your skin can be sensitive to the sun for two weeks.

Patients have also found it extremely helpful to schedule a DiamondGlow facial two weeks after their Morpheus8 treatment to reduce any lingering texture and restore hydration to their skin. Get ready for those before-and-after pictures; you won’t believe your eyes!
