What are facial oils?! Why should you be using them?!

Conveniently located to serve Scottsdale, Phoenix, & Chandler.

My latest obsession is facial oils! That’s right! Over the last year I have struggled with acne so the idea of adding an oil to my skincare routine absolutely terrified me. I had a hard time finding a moisturizer that wouldn’t break me out, so oils were never an option. I have seen a lot of hype on social media about facial oil, so I decided to give it a try. My results are incredible! I use them DAILY!! U.F.O by Sunday Riley is my current favorite. U.F.O oil has 1.5 % Salicylic Acid and Tea Tree Oil so if I feel a breakout coming on or currently have a blemish I use this! It works immediately! I wake up and notice a huge difference. I also use Drunk Elephant’s Virgin Marula Oil. This is the one I use most often. I mix it in the morning with my Vitamin C serum and my skin looks bright and glowing all day!

Myth: Facial oil will cause a breakout

Adding a facial oil to your routine actually helps prevent breakouts! Oils help balance your skins oil production. So instead of clogging your pores it going to help prevent congestion and restore the natural moisture of your skin. Moisturizers are actually a blend of oils and other ingredients your skin doesn’t actually need, so you’re just caking a layer on top of your skin. Make the swap! Trade in your moisturizer for a good facial oil and serum. The theory that you don’t need moisturizers is actually backed by very credible doctors like Dr. Zein Obagi, and from personal experience it works! My skin has never looked better and I hardly breakout.  I have tried countless products and skincare regimens and I FINALLY found one that actually works!

What should you look for in a facial oil?

Omegas 3s: These benefits your skin by regulating oil production and help delay the skins aging process

Vitamin E: This is an antioxidant that fights inflammation

Vitamin A: Stimulates fibroblast that help keep the skin firm and tight

Tea Tree Oil: Possesses antibacterial properties and anti-inflammatory properties to combat acne
